George Kittle Extension
The SF 49ers number one priority this off season is to extend stud tight end George Kittle, who is entering final year of rookie contract. SF has done very well in this area gauging the market and locking down a player before free agency hits and the market is driven up. Kittle's deal will be a very expensive one as he is most likely going to set the tight end market for the league. Currently that market is set at 10 million a year, which Jimmy Graham earns with the Green Bay Packers.
All Options on The Table
The Los Angeles Rams have made it clear over the last few days that in regards to star running back Todd Gurley all options are on the table. The team has stated it will look at all avenues and do what is best for the franchise. The team will look to keep, straight up release, or trade the running back. The Latter may be difficult to achieve as Gurley has a monster contract, and other NFL teams will be hesitant to take that money on with a back that has fallen off over the last few seasons with knee injury concerns. Those of you who have Gurley in keeper or dynasty leagues need to be worried here.
Cam in Carolina's Plans ?
Yesterday when questioned about the future of QB Cam Newton, GM Marty Hurney refused to answer. The only comment Hurney made on the subject was, "All I can say is he's rehabbing." The future of Cam will be in question much of the off season. With the new coach and scheme coming in it remains to be seen if the Panthers want Cam to be part of this reboot. The organization may want to get their QB of the future in the upcoming draft.
Eagles Add New Coach
The Philadelphia Eagles have hired former Denver offensive coordinator Rick Scangarello. He will not hold the same title in Philly however. Scangarello was hired to be an offensive assistant as Philly will look to go with the committee approach on offense instead of hiring someone to the position.
