The Chargers and running back Austin Ekeler have agreed on a deal that will keep the 2019 standout and PPR Fantasy RB6 in the powdered blue for four more years. The team and the running back agreed to a 4 year 24.5 million deal, with 15 million being guaranteed. This extension pretty much slams the door on Melvin Gordon returning to the team in 2020. The Gordon exit would leave Ekeler and Justin Jackson in the backfield so we fully expect an addition through free agency or the draft. A rookie that stands out to us as being a good fit would be AJ Dillion.
Dallas ups Offer
Over the weekend it was reported that the Cowboys changed their offer to quarterback Dak Prescott. The new deal reportedly would pay the quarterback 33 million annually with 105 million guaranteed. The offer is similar annually to what Dak turned down last fall but the guarantee is much higher. Dak is coming off his best season as a pro and it feels to us that a deal is close to getting done where Dak will be a cowboy for the next several years.
New England Silent
The Brady offseason drama continues as a source close to the situation states the organization has yet to offer Tom Brady a deal. The future hall of famer still has no idea what type of deal or if he will receive a deal from the team. It is likely the Patriots are waiting to see the new CBA agreement before they submit an official offer to the goat. Brady revealed through text to former OC Charlie Weis that nobody knows anything about his future, so don't believe what you hear." Stay tuned, because with free agency quickly approaching the future of the goat should quickly come into focus.
Just Mariota Baby
Mike Garafolo of NFl.com reported over the weekend that the Las Vegas Raiders are more likely to add a back up quarterback to push Derek Carr this off season, rather than signing a unquestioned starter like Brady. With that in mind Garafolo says the Raiders are very intrested in the former first round pick Marcus Mariota. It appears that many clubs with question marks at the position are going this route. Look at Mariota's former team in 2019 the Titans, as they did the very same thing signing Ryan Tannehill to help push Mariota and eventually take his job when the push failed. Now it appears Mariota may be in the Tannehill role this season looking to take Carr's job, if he indeed winds up in the silver and black. Important note Mike Mayock, former draft analyst turned raiders GM, was very high on the quarterback when he was coming into the league.
